Original Research

I have done research paper before and it was when I was in high school. Me and my group when to Rochester downtown and act like we don’t speak English and trying get to someone help us with direction of Hospital and see how many people we ask that help us and didn’t help us. The different between library research and original research is library research you can’t experience and find the answer and you can find the answer you looking for by researcher that research your question. Some pros for Original Research is that you can experience in real life and some cons are you might night find the right people to ask the question. Some pros for Library research is the information is easy to access and some cons are some researcher have not done research on the question that you really want to know.

The successes that I am having with my semester research project are I am almost done with the project and the challenge that I am having with this project is finding all the resource of where I found my research.

Statistical Information

I found scholar journal statistical Information for my research. The news outlets reported that this year GCSE results indicated that there is a gap between the sexes.. the government document that I found was about employed person by detailed occupation and sex, they compare the total of employed and the percent of woman that is employed.

My definition of “intellectual property” I would say it is having someone come out with something that someone else didn’t come out with yet. The expert definition of intellectual is refers to creation of mind: inventions, literary, and artistic works, and symbols, names, image, and design used in commerce. An example of intellectual property will be using someone song or rhyme and not giving them credit or asking them permission if you can use it. Another example will be using quote and not giving credit the person that owns the quote that will be intellectual property.

Google 101

During Google 101 I have learn a lot of stuff that I didn’t knew before about Google. One thing that I learn is that you can use Google to search thing just like Academic Search Premier. All you need to do is change the search string like “and” to “+” and you can also use other symbols like * and ~. The Google activities that we did in class made me understand how to use Google better and I will be using Google for my research project.

My opinion about blog is enjoyable source because you can see other people comment and see how they view about the article for example the George Clooney Talk about Arrest, Sudan Crisis on Fox News Sunday. I like reading people comment and see what they think about the article. Some people was saying good thing about George for being a hero and go there to protest and other was saying he is just looking for money.

The newspaper article that I found some information about my topic is the New York Times. The information was about the president of the North Omar Hassan Al-Bashir is using military force to block food and humanitarian aid intended for civilian in Southern Kordofan and Blue Nile mountain region. South Sudan was split from Northern Sudan in July 2011.

Assignement 9 and 10 research reflection

The subject specidic database that i choose is Ethnic News Watch. The database that provided more relavant for my topic is Academic Search Premier. Academic Search Premier you can narrow down your result by using full text, scholarly journals and more others and Ethnic News Watch you can narrow your subject by using Scholarly Journals, Magazines, newspaper, refernce/report. My first search string worked for me. In Ethnic News Watch was there were 9 results and Academic Search Premier there were 17 results that come up. All of my relavant articles that i have found were in full text. Since i start working on my database my research question have not changed. The biggest challenge in composing my research question would be trying to ask the right question and i think i would be able to overcome that challenge if i keep lloking for the right answer.

Getting Ready to Use Academic Search Premier

Based on my review of the Academic Search Premier feature I woul say it is very helpful tool for student and everyone else that want use any research. I like the way the organize there staff for example narrowing your subjct by providing three different search box. I have used one time i think in my high school academic search premier but i was that familiar with it. I dont think i used database for other classes.I dont have any fears about using academic research to do research.

Your Population

 Reading a bit more about my population my assumption about my population did not change because i knew they been in a bad civil war for long time and alot of people lost family shelter and etc. Some questions i have now on my populations iswhat cause the war. Some information that i found about my population so far is most people on the civil war was from the south.

Encylopedia vs Wikipedia

Enclopedias and Wikipedia, are two resource that everyone uses when they want to search about infromation of something. They both have pros and cons. two pros of encylopedia is it gives you a basic understanding of the issues or what you are looking for and it also a reliable source.One cons of encylopedia is not easy to access. One advantage of Wikipedia is is easy to acces and one disadvantage is not a realiable source.I found the Lost Boys on encylopedia when search Sudaneseon but i didnt found one on E-encyclopedia. After locating and reading an encylopedia and wikipedia on my topic i found appropriate using encyclopedia because its reliable source.

OPAC Search Experience

My topic for research project is sudenese in Minnesota. I am looking for general background information and what difference living in Minnesota and Sudan.I was successfully found my book on my first try.I searched for an Ebook for my topic and I found a book talks about South Sudanese Lost Boys.it hard for me to read a book from the computer screen i would rather read on print book. When I searched the word sudanese alot of titles about sudanese people came up. I think the Miller Center OPAC serach had a better options than the library. I am going to use the Miller Center because of It.

what is critical thinking?

To me critical thinking is being open minded on everything you do or hear about it especially if you don’t know if true fact or just an opinion. I have heard this term before in my high school English class, my philosophy 194 and math 193. An "experts" definition of critical thinking is, "Critical thinking is the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and/or evaluating information gathered from, or generated by, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication, as a guide to belief and action.http://www.criticalthinking.org/pages/defining-critical-thinking/766. This source identifies a particular process that one must engage in to thinking critically by mentioning generated by, observation, experience, reflection, and reasoning. I think that the connection between IM 204 and critical thinking is we will be dealing a lot of research about other people and you have to use critical thinking.

what do you assume to be true about sudanese population in minnesota?

vulnerable population in Minnesota it will be Sudanese people. I don't know a lot about them but i have friends that are Sudanese. One thing i assume true about this population is there height. They are the tallest people i have ever seen. I learn this from by seeing my friends n there family. I think the most difficult challenge that i will have when i am doing research on the population of Sudanese it will be there tripe and how many language they speak because i think every tripe have there own language.
